(http://tinyurl.com/9lctp8) You are listening to a sample of Psaltiki (ecclesiastical chant, erroneously known as Byzantine Music), using a biblical verse, in French (Louez le Seigneur du haut des cieux. Alléluia.) PSALM CXLVIII = 148, as interpreted by Georgios K. MICHALAKIS, psaltis PLEASE click on the following LINK to view an explanatory webpage (http://tinyurl.com/9lctp8) MANY links are provided in the end of the aforementionned web page, beneath the Hellenic text (Hellines = you should READ this). ALL Material provided is FREE to DOWNLOAD and DISTRIBUTE UNCHANGED, and to USE for GOD-FEARING RELIGIOUS purposes ONLY. The hymn is chanted in First mode, in manner called « chronos kalophonikos ». This is a bit sensual, for it uses smooth attacks and many equal temporal divisions, and it is for this reason that it is utilised only AFTER the end of some religious ceremony. I chant according to what I have learned from many masters, the main one being Stylianos Tsolakidis (+1987), student of Iakovos Nafpliotis (1864-1942), the Greatest ever psaltis to have been recorded. I DESPISE contemporary church and even folklore music as it has evolved in the Orthodox world, given that many people with talented voices perform WITHOUT appropriate knowledge/training of Traditional psaltiki, and with a unique concern of becoming superstars, which most have achieved at the expense of this Holy tradition. In this chant I try using vocalizations that also appear in paleographic Gregorian chant (please view other videos with Gregorian chant). [Περισσότερα] [Λιγότερα] |
